I have a mid 70's Emmons P/P for sale. It plays like a dream but needs to be refinished to return it to it's original condition. Serial number 2315 D. I know there are several folks out there that refinish these. I'd like to get $2500 for it but will entertain offers.

In the past this forum has been a good place to buy and sell. I keep getting stupid low ball offers.
This guitar is in fantastic condition other then the finish. The mechanics are great and it plays wonderfully. It is an outstanding P/P. It needs to be refinished! $2500 FIRM NOW!! YOU PAY SHIPPING!!

| I think that is a fair price on a lacquer p/p regardless of condition. I have 2 lacquer and a rosewood p/p. If I had the funds I would buy this one. |

How many knee levers does it have? I can only see 3.
I need another quitar to refinish. Oops, I think I may have just spotted a 4th one folded under. What is the brown thing between the necks?

I can't speak for Ron, but on my old Emmons D-10, I once attached a piece that looks something like that, albeit in a different position. It's simply a chunk of magnetic sheeting, like the material everyone uses to stick stuff to their refrigerator door. I use it to hold the 7/64" Allen wrench for tuning at the endplate.
I always thought myself very clever, and have never seen anyone else do it (until now, perhaps). It has served me well, as I've been using the same Allen wrench for the better part of four decades. It always stayed attached to the magnet, even while jostling around in its case when tooling down the road attempting (and often failing) to dodge potholes. |

When I saw that price, I cried. 2500.00, for a lacquer push-pull? My first thought, was that there's a misprint--the two should be a three. I just paid 2700.00 for an SD-10 Williams. Ron Spears can play a pair of tennis shoes, if the laces are tight enough. A fine musician, and a reputable guy.
Ron, good luck. I hope we meet up at a festival sometime, and get to jam a little. |

obviously the pictures show lots of the finish missing. so...big deal. it's a very cool steel that can be played now....it's even got the boutique 'reliced' look. or refinish the sucker. looks like a great deal to me!! |

Can't believe this guitar has not been sold yet. It's a classic! What gives? I'd be proud to play it just the way it sits; I like the way it looks.
Personally, I much prefer the utilitarian look of a well-used instrument in its original finish, to any of the exquisitely refinished, super-polished, better-than-it-came-out-of-the-factory instruments that are often pictured on this Forum. Just like a show car, I'd be afraid to even touch one of them for fear of putting a fingerprint on it. Play one out on a gig? Out of the question. But, that's just me... to each his own.
Unbelievably great deal on a classic push-pull, and everyone already knows it'll sound like a million bucks. |
