Set your toes a-tapping...'Lucky Lips' was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller It was originally recorded by R&B singer Ruth Brown for Atlantic Records in New York in 1957, and was successfully covered by Cliff Richard and The Shadows in 1963. The version went to #4 in the UK, and in Belgium, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, Sweden and Switzerland became a number one single.
This steel guitar cover version was recorded with the Steelocaster, with two acoustic rhythm tracks ( Martin Custom X) adding to a backing track by Richard of mbt.com. Key of E.

Thanks for sharing, Joachim! I did not know Cliff knew German. Did he sing any other of his famous songs in German?

Sorry to barge in, but as a native German speaker I think I can provide an answer to this one.
Sir Cliff, to the best of my knowledge, does not speak German. My guess is that he was provided with a rough transliteration. Many foreign language artists did that back in the 1960s and 70s. |

I think Dieter is right. But there were some English artists that speak or spoke fluent German. Spencer Davis and Alexis Korner come to mind.
I don't like everything what Cliff has done but "It's so funny how we don't talk anymore" gets me everytime. Another one is "Visions". Sung in German here:

When I was a kid I went to the record store to buy "She Loves You," but they were all sold out. They did have "Sie Liebt Dich," so I purchased that 45 instead.
Everyone already knew the English words, because it was played about every 11 minutes on all the top 40 stations. I just dug the music, especially that big 6th chord sung in harmony at the end. |

Hope you don't mind Kay.
Here's one original "Berliner Lied" with the British Invasion sound painted all over it:
