The Hendersonville Police concluded their investigation in March, deeming Bobbe's death to be from natural causes. His body was released for burial and he was promptly cremated. The Hendersonville Funeral Home advised me that they handled the cremation and no memorial service has been scheduled at their facility. I was not able to learn to whom his ashes were released but strongly suspect it was to the girlfriend.
The Probate Court in Hendersonville has received a filing on 4-1-14 for the liquidation of Bobbe’s estate. It was filed by his girlfriend who is listed as the estate's Executor. She has an attorney. Anyone needing her attorney’s name is welcome to contact me for that information.
Thus, for any Forumite who might have something at Bobbe's shop for repair or any debts that Bobbe might have owed, a Creditor's Claim may be filed against his estate. The probate court will fax or email a claim form to anyone who desires one. The cost for filing the claim is $11.00. The form must be submitted in triplicate and the original must be notarized. The identifying information needed (besides the details of your claim) is Bobbe's name: Robert Seymour and Docket No. 2014PR-138. The address for mailing the claim is:

According to the Court, four months is allotted for all Creditors' Claims to be filed. The estate executor must then file a detailed report listing Bobbe's assets and liabilities (the time-limit for filing the executor's report is not known). In the end, the Court will need to approve the Executor's report and direct her to pay all of Bobbe's debts that the Court deems legitimate. In the event that the assets of the estate are insufficient, the Court will likely approve a proportionate distribution of assets to each of the creditors. Following that, any remaining assets will be distributed in accordance with the provisions of Bobbe's Will.
Based on the above, my next report will not likely appear for several months. ...Tom |

Does that mean that his shop is currently closed and chained down by the Sheriff?
It makes it difficult for his heirs to continue the business as a going concern, which is what I believe Bobbe would have wanted.  |

Alan: A couple of local steelers have told me that the shop is locked up. In a discussion with the Hendersonville Police Department, I mentioned to them my concern about an over-zealous woman who had installed new locks on the doors, and the possibility of the shop and store being sacked if the contents were not protected. They seemed to appreciate this information, but I don't know if they did anything to assure that the contents were protected.
However, if the landlord is thinking of his own interests, he will probably want that store secured. He will surely be filing a Creditor's Claim against Bobbe's estate with the local probate court to recover his lost rental fees. And, he is entitled to those fees until the contents of the building are removed. In fact, in his Creditor's Claim, he will probably claim the store's contents if he doesn't receive enough monetary payment from Bobbe's estate to cover his lost rental fees.
It is very important that everyone who may have a guitar or other item in the store that belongs to them file a Creditor's Claim with the probate court (as I mentioned in another posting here on the Forum). ...Tom |

| I hope Bobbe's store reopens at some point after all the legal matters are resolved. I want to buy some more of his Cobra Coil steel guitar strings. About 10 sets each of E9th and C6th. |

Kenny,my friend, I don't think that's gonna happen. It's a done deal and evidently Bobbe must have wanted it this way. He made his lady friend his executor and entrusted his final wishes to her. SGN has appearantly died with Bobbe. I imagine everything will be piece-mealed out by auction and anything historical will end up in the private collections of the rich and famous. I'm sorry if I seem like a downer,but I have seen these type of things happen in my own family.

there was nothing left in the store when I was there last time, one or two old guitars , some accessories and that's it... I believe SGN is gone with Bobbe... I knew some of Bobbes girlfriends, and nothing special to say about any of them, they were with Bobbe mostly because of his money, and I don't think they were ever interested in steel guitar, or music in general...

I was in there about four months ago and noticed the same thing as you…very few guitars there, it looked like the store was getting ready to close.
I drove by two weeks ago and it was hard to find exactly where the store was, no sign of anything there, although it wasn't a very visible store anyway…terrible location. |

I was in the store on the morning of Bobbe's passing. Just one guitar on the floor and the place looked as though it was already being downscaled of stock.
Vic deserves a special mention, as he, Bob Hempker and Bobbe's secretary had kept everything going in Bobbe's absence for a long period. I was lucky enough to buy a good stock of Cobra Coil strings, so I was fortunate. However, it was sad to see the business in early demise, and the place was nothing like the thriving business I was accustomed to seeing over the years. As others have said, it is very sad to see the rapid closure of SGN. However, I would imagine that Nashville being what it is, someone will fill the void and start up a new and similar business.
Bobbe's personality will never be replaced, and that was one of the biggest reasons why SGN was such a great place to hang out. You would hear some outrageous stories, some of which you would take with a pinch of salt, and others were of such historical importance to our musical heritage that it makes it all the more poignant that Bobbe didn't write a book of some sort.

He didn't write a book, but he did write a newsletter for years, mostly containing his memoirs and opinions. There's enough material for a complete book in those newsletters.  |

Bless Bobbe...especially for writing his wonderful newsletters. With his playing and instructional videos--many of which we can see on Youtube--he gave us many, many gifts.

I am really going to miss SGN. A nice lady usually answered the phone and she instantly recognized my voice when I spoke to her . She already had my address and credit card # on file and didn't have to ask for them. I would order my strings and stuff on Wednesday and they would be at my house by Saturday, sometimes Friday. Old fashioned customer service like that has almost vanished today.
I hope somebody else picks up the Cobra Coil line of strings.

I didn't know Bobbie but, I always enjoyed the newsletters. I was glad when Bob and Vic wrote their memoirs, maybe they will write some more.
