Here is a new song my wife & I wrote for a CD project called Healing Blues to raise awareness for the Homeless. We were matched up with a homeless person, interviewed him, and wrote the song about his story. We played the song, still in it's early stages for Shannon, our guy, today for the first time. He is in the dark blue ball cap...I think he likes it.

Thanks Paul. Singing the song is Steve Headen, the bass player in my band. You can see our guy grab the cross around his neck when the song mentions it. He lives in a tent near the center. My wife & co-writer in the dark sweater is sitting beside Shannon, our "Homeless guy". He wants to get off the streets by 2015 when his son gets out of college. It's a touching story, and we hope to raise awareness to the Homeless. There will be 10 or 12 songs on the CD, all be different writers telling the story of someone they are matched up with. |

Thanks Lee, it is a Regal tuned in E(EBG#EBE). The cone has been upgraded with a Quarterman...I plan to record the song with my full band, Lap-Bass-Drums...maybe a lead on Strat, and the Dobro at the end of the song during fade out.
Plan is to record this summer with a CD Release Concert with the money raised going to the IRC(The Homeless Center). After that we have already had interest from other Homeless Centers wanting to use the CD as a tool.
These folks at the center do great work for many...and this experience has been great for me. In December I just learned that an old friend of mine, that had been a drummer in one of my bands, and I had hired him as a soundman for PA jobs had became homeless. This has helped me wrap my head around all this.... |
