Topic: Fitting Telonics speaker in Peavey Nashville 112 |

Hi All
I have heard such good things about Telonics speakers that I want to install one in my Peavey Nashville 112. Can anyone advise me about this? Is the job straight forward or are there gong to be complications?

In another thread, Howard Parker said he put the Telonics 12" in his NV 112 with no problem.
They are amazing speakers. Dave Beatty and his crew did a ton of research developing them.

Yes...drop in replacement. You'll need the 4 ohm Telonincs.

The only tricky thing is getting the nuts started back on the studs. Start with any one and work your way around the speaker one at a time tightening them a little at a time. It's pretty much impossible to get them all started at once.
I have had the Telonics speaker in my 112 for a couple of months now and I really do like it a lot. The speaker and upgraded chips have made it a very good sounding amplifier. |

| The chip kit upgrade is available from Ken Fox, (see his Forum post). A rather easy task and makes a marked difference IMO...Just a thought: If you decide to perform the chip upgrade, may want to do the speaker swap at the same time. Having the chassis removed should make the new speaker install much simpler. |

| I would upgrade the chips first. May not need a new speaker. I've installed the OPA2134's in my NV112 and I don't think a new speaker is needed. |

I noticed more of an improvement with the telonics speaker than i did with the chip upgrade, but both are what this amp needed, i had the 1201-8 before the telonics witch is my sencond choice of speakers for this amp and i really didnt notice much volume loss at all with the 8 ohm, ive had the telonics 4 ohm in mine for about 8 months now but at the time they wasn offering the 8 ohm

While we are kinda on the subject of the Fox Chips, what difference was I supposed to hear with these 74 year old ears? I put them in a few years ago and I guess there was little difference in the sound.

Strange.
I played directly into a NV112, no effects except internal reverb, pot volume pedal and my Carter, at the Dallas show. Roy Rosetta, Doug Jernigan and Tommy Dodd all told me that I had the best tone on the show ( did not say I picked the best).
I believe that Peavey did the proper research and designed this amp where you can get the best tone possible, stock.
Oh yes, Tommy White played directly into one of my NV112's in St Louis and his tone was killer. I will post an excerpt next week for you to hear.
That said, I guess it is to each his own. Tone is very subjective. |
