I have noticed from time-to-time that some of you guys use GK amps. I bought a MB500 and I run it through two Eminence Cabinets and was wondering what settings some of you use????? I have set it to what seems to be a good sound, but??????? _________________ The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God" Psa. 14:1

Forum member Ray Uhl has an MB500. Maybe he will post what his settings are.
I used his amp (and guitar) last year when I was in KC but don't remember what the settings are.
I use an MB200 but I don't know if the EQ is the same, and it will require different settings for different guitars and speakers (and the individual preference for sound). |

I have the 500 fusion so I don't know if wee are talking the same amp here.
Never the less, her are my settings.
Master A 12:00 o'clock
Gain A 9:00 to 10:00 o'clock. ( i actually never had to turn it up louder than that).
Contour between 4& 5 o'clock.
Treble 10/11:00 o'clock
Hi Mid 10:00 o'clock
Lo Mid 9:00/10:00 o'clock
Bass 12:00/1:00 o'clock.
My switches on the top plate are all on the contour is switched to 800 Hz.
I play 4 different guitars including
An 83 Emmons SKH with a BL Xr16's
A 83 Zum with 710's
A 83 Franklin with an original L 705
A 2001 Williams with a newer style 705 .
All ring well with very minor temperances / adjustments to the franklin..
I use the Lil Izzy ( not with the Franklin) .
This settings seem to work for me. Maybe it's not for everyone's ear but it sounds ok to me. Jack Stoner, feel free to comment. I trust your ears.
GK Mb amps are one of the best steel guitar amps out on the market ( IMHO). They sound great, are a breeze to carry and are reliable as they come. I have the MB 200 and an MB 500 fusion.
My effects are an RV3 piped directly through the amp and mounted on the side of my seat. Makes for easy access and trouble free operation.
Hope this helps.

Same here. The MB200 is so simple! I just twist the knobs until it sounds good. It varies according to what room and speaker I'm using, and whether I'm using the Pod XT or just a reverb stomp box. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |
