By the way Roy I hope you know the guys out camping on my lawn because I've been feeding them for 3 days. Especially the Buddy Emmons look alike who's not big on eating but keeps sucking back the booze. You and your big ideas

Hey, Keith! Congratulations on the Franklin. I didn't know you bought one! This is sort of a reverse chip-off-the-old-block thing, eh?
What happened to the old Sho-Bud?
For those who may not know, Keith is Randle's dad. A very fine family, which explains the type of person Randle is.

Hi Don
The LDG is here but I think Randle is comming home for Christmas so he will take it back home to Nashville I think, I will miss it nice old steel.
I have often wondered if Mr Franklin also built it when he was with Sho-Bud. |

Keith: You better believe it. Hard to type though. Quite a route it's taking. I just spoke to a lady from UPS and cleared it through Canada customs. She estimated another 48 hrs.

I have serial # 173. I got it new from Paul in 1997 and wont part with it for anything. It is a superb instrument, sounds great and never goes out of tune (only I do that). I dont know of any other Franklins in England.

Looks like it's being held up in Québec for a little French training. I tried to explain to the UPS lady that it was already bilingual, you know E9th and C6th and she said " Je ne comprends pas, whatever that means.

quote: Steve - That's a great looking guitar.
Tell us about the handle on the floor.
A secret escape hatch?
Nope, Lee - that's ~3x3ft platform that I built for carpeted area. The thing is split in half and hinged in the center so it folds up as you pick it up by the handle.
Yep, Theresa, still playing barefoot (on the Franklin...). Just haven't been hanging around here much lately. Thanks for the note.

Keith: CQ DX CQ DX De Ve1RLL. Thanks! It fits me like a glove. Such great action. Mine came with a few built in licks. Do you ever listen in on 80 meters? My dad plays a Dekley and his call is VE1FW.
Dale Bessant: When I went to the show in St Louis a few years ago Mrs Franklin introduced me to Your friend Dale Rivard. I was anxious to try a Franklin guitar and he allowed me to try his. You can let him know that I received my new black D10 Franklin on Monday.
Waisznor: I can email you a picture of the undercarriage once I get the chance.

I love my 2001 D-10 Franklin. It has brought back a great interest in playing Steel Guitar to me. I wish I had gotten it about 20 years ago.

Let me just say my Dad started building Franklin's in 1979.
The steel shows he attended have been Stoney's in Knoxville, a few shows in Lexington and Scotty's.
Personally, I've attended most of the shows since that time frame in St.Louis.
I've met so many nice musicians along the way. Many that have posted under this topic that actually purchased a Franklin and I'd like to Thank You! It's a great thing to hear positive comments about my Dad's guitar! He wants to please everyone.

I loved reading this post! Congrats Bob on your very top of the line guitar! Post a picture when you get a chance.
But Steve - how in the world can you play in bare feet? Do you play for Jimmy Buffet or what?
Best, -Dave |
