I have a friend wanting to buy an original Scheerhorn Resonator. Not the Wetcher/Scheerhorn version. _________________ EMMONS LASHLEY LEGRANDE D-10, 95 DOBRO, PEAVEY SESSION 400, NASHVILLE 400, Session 2000, PEAVEY TUBEFEX, HILTON & GOODRICH PEDALS |

What is on ebay right now is one of the new Scheerhorns built by National, AKA "Nati-horn."
We have a long thread going on these guitars.

If there is a Scheerhorn in my future it will be one of the above. I have yet to see one in person but the word is that these are the real deal, for a lot less than one would pay for a Tim-built guitar.
I haven't seen any used Tim-built Scheerhorns for sale lately. My gut tells me that owners of those guitars who might be considering selling them are holding off to see how the dust settles after these new guitars built at National have been around for awhile.
Bob, any idea what your friend is willing to pay for a used Tim-built Scheerhorn? Even one with a fair amount of dings and scratches is likely to go for at minimum $6K.
Tim is still building a small number of guitars himself, but a new one goes for over $10K. _________________ Mark |

A periodic check of the Elderly Instruments site may eventually yield results, they have used originals available on occasion. |

Artisan Guitars in Franklin, outside of Nashville, used to be at times almost a revolving door for used 'horns, but it's been drought conditions there for some time regarding these guitars as built by Tim himself.
I still think it has something to do with the presence of the new Nati-horns in the market, and sort of a wait-and-see situation, but on the other hand it might be just a cyclical thing. We're not talking about something like used Martins here, but there are ballpark 700 Scheerhorns in existence.
Aside from retailers the place where one most likely find one for sale would be at Reso-nation.org
Quite a number of Scheerhorns have changed hands on that forum since it began in 2004. _________________ Mark |

I will take all the info you guys have given and pass it on. I have had the pleasure of sitting and picking with Tim at a festival in Columbus Ohio, several years ago. Got to play a couple of his guitars. They are outstanding. _________________ EMMONS LASHLEY LEGRANDE D-10, 95 DOBRO, PEAVEY SESSION 400, NASHVILLE 400, Session 2000, PEAVEY TUBEFEX, HILTON & GOODRICH PEDALS |
