I bought a BMI S10 semi-locally over the weekend. It is pretty much your normal BMI S10, but the mica is sort of an antique white with light gray "grain" highlights. Anyone seen a stock BMI like this, or might it have been a custom mica? BMI has a white mica currently, but it appears to be a solid more stark white. I will post a photo when I get home later. Anyway, nice little guitar. _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6. Peavey 400 and a Roland 40 Amps. Behringer Reverb Pedal. |

Hi Jim,
Seems Like The Formica You Have Described Was Used By MSA in The 1970s & Was Named "Tidewood'.

Jim, I had one 3 & 4 in an off white color like you described. I've also had the white Tidewood on an older MSA. The BMI color was like you said, more antique white rather than Tidewood.
BTW, the BMI was great sounding/playing guitar. |

Here's my old white wood-grain BMI, around ten years ago. It's still in Australia somewhere, great guitar and never let me down. |

And it's a whole lot shorter than it was when it rolled out of the factory because it is now keyless and "beefed up" in that area. And it's purty!!!

I had a White D12 BMI.
'Wish I still had it.
I traded it to a guy in Arkansas and lost track of it from there.
I think it was plain white formica (not Tidewood). |

Yep, that photo is it I think, only mine has the diamond shaped BMI sticker / logo. It was just the first white grained one I had seen. My prior one and many others I've seen for sale here have been the dark woodgrain color.
I really lucked out on this one as it is also about an inch shorter than standard and fits me much better with no more back pain from having to sit on a higher than normal seat. _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6.
