Has anyone adapted from a Day setup to an Emmons? I just bought another guitar, and am wondering if I should just have it switched over or learn to play backwards. Any thoughts?

For maximum maintenance of mental flexibility, you'd probably be better off leaving it as is and playing both guitars.
That said, I'd switch to the setup I'm used to. Neither are better than the other.

I play Day setup and everyone else around here plays Emmons. I can play Emmons setup after about 15 minutes at a guitar but if I try to swap back immediately to mine with Day, I'm lost for a few songs.
I think it is definitely better to stick to one setup if you have been playing it for a long time. I learned on Emmons setup 25 years ago but Day just made much more sense to me so I went to Day but I hadn't been playing for about 6 months then.
I'd change it if it were me.

Thanks Lane, Chris and Henry

Lane: I am to old for much more mental stimulation on steel Smile

Chris: Good idea, I probably will give it a little

Henry: I learned on a day back in the 70's and have never played on the Emmons side. Still gigging so I will probably try to find a tech somewhere near me.
