The islands are suddenly getting their butts kicked with fine steel, this week on Maui supports an all-star steel line up that will continue the good news and hopefully transfer to Honolulu for upcoming May Day celebrations.

Wow! Those are the guys and gals to see and hear, huh? And free, with a jam session today!

Makes me sad our vacation next week is to the Grand Canyon and not the islands. I miss Maui so much. We'll be back next spring, though.

There is nothing like Hawaiian Steel Guitar in the natural home of Hawaiian Steel Guitar - Hawaii.
It even sounds different than when it is played in other places. Cool

Aloha,
Just returned from Maui Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival ...it was fantastic! Folks listened to some of the best players for 12 hrs a day for two days Plus a jam at night.
.e.g., Alan Akaka, Jeff Au Hoy, Ross Ka'a'A, Joel Katz, lion Kobayashi, Tony Lock, Patti Maxine, Ed Punu, Owana Salazar, Greg Sadinha and others from Japan, Germany, New Zealand, and mainland USA

The location was perfect grass huts, swaying palms, tiki bar, and most importantly the Aloha spirit of the Kaanapali Beach Hotel!

FYI, here is a pic .but just from my iPad ....site won't accept my ipad videos
Aloha
Terry
Ps next year it's near end of April...same place

I just got back from Maui myself. I played on Friday, backed up on bass Friday and yesterday, jammed Friday and Saturday evening, met new and old friends and heard some amazing steel. This is, by far, the best non-pedal steel affair I have ever attended.
