MSA single 10 guitars come up at prices that are attractive to beginners and are sometimes recommended as "pro" alternatives to student PSGs.
What are the different MSA S10 models, their features, advantages and disadvantages?

Jim, there are a lotta models, and different versions of most of these models, so a discussion covering them all would get pretty lengthy. The 3 best of the cheaper ones (that I'd recommend) rated from best downwards are the "Classic", the "Semi-Classic", and the "Pro-Am Sidekick".
I've been playing MSA's for over 40 years, and have a couple of them, so one might say I'm pretty familiar with the brand.  |

There's also the vintage xl..very similar to a classic...some say they have 3 up/ 2 down changers....mine doesn't...
There's also the classic SS, I don't know what subtle difference there is vs a classic. |

The Classic SS had a smaller and more narrow body, and lacked the aluminum frame of the Classic. Everything was mounted to the wood underbody, like a Sho Bud ,instead of the aluminum frame. It also had a single coil pickup called a Supersustain II, as opposed to the original MSA Supersustain pickup which was a thick sounding humbucker .I had a Classic SS and did not like it near as much as the Classics... bob

I'm with Bob, I like the Classic model best. I had a single neck S10 Classic SS once and just did not like it as well as the Classic. I had them both at once and played both, finally selling the SS and keeping the Classic.
