Ricky Davis's talent, generosity, and service to the steel guitar community are well documented on this forum and certainly won't come as a surprise to anyone who's dealt with him...
...but had to give him another "shout out" for adjusting my PSG after I [and the previous owner] had blindly tweaked this and that, leaving it kinda cranky and ... I got called for a job and was hoping to get that extra comfort and playability before the gig. It was a "small potatoes" job that a busy guy like him could have let slide, but he did it on super short notice and with a smile. AND he gave me some pointers & lesson material on the fly - unsolicited!

Ricky is one of my heros on this forum.
I enjoy the video and tabs a whole bunch.
He also helped me figure out how to display
pictures on the forum.

Yea Boy!!! Ricky's 'de man!!!!  He has helped me out a BUNCH!!!He has set up guitars for me, and also helped me with my computer. He has helped me with any steel questions I might have. Picks steel like there's no tomorrow, too!! Ricky, if you ever need someone to cover a gig for you---well, maybe in 15 years if the song list is simple!! HA!  |

Wow you guys are makin' me head swell..ha.
Brian; you can buy me a Coffee..ha..as I don't drink Alcohol....Just CAFFINE..(well in moderation that is).
Nate....glad to be of service...and my gosh you have really come along way in a short time(Ya'll look out for this NEW DAD....what a natural steel playing Talent)..and that Mullen plays Sweeeeet now; I really liked the way it felt when we were done and I believe we understand the underneath a bit more eh??.
James; I don't think I've met a more enthused person about playing the steel guitar than yourself>...and that is Your character, that has brought you along pal..I just nudge you in the right direction here and there...you do the rest my friend.

It's not just you mid-west guys that are Ricky Davis fans. Way out here on the coast of NC is one big fan. The sound of Ricky playing on Linda Lay's CD is the sound
I'm still shooting for. He has always answered any questions I've sent to him and one day I may caddy for him when he plays golf here in the Tarheel state. |

And I'm in the Ricky Davis fan club. Ricky's one fine, world-class player- just listen to some of the clips at www.mightyfinemusic.com but still has time for us little guys What a positive, encouraging personality.
I've learned a lot from him.

Ricky sure has helped me a lot, too, to fix things that didn´t work, understand the mechanics better, get the right approach when I had some uncertainties about playing this and that, and to nurture my love for Sho~Buds! I´m proud to call him my friend and to play a guitar that once was his. It was great finally meeting him in person this year. Hope next time we´ll get a chance to do some pickin´

I had a great time meeting and playing with Ricky at ISGC. And hearing him play on the new Fulawka too.
He has always been a GREAT help to me by e-mail, and no question has been even hinted at being too stupid..
even the 2nd time I asked.

Thanks guys; this is extreamly Humbling, to say the least.
I gotta say. My Mom reads the steel guitar forum...mainly to see what I'm up to..ha..>but she really loves and is proud when folks mention that they like and are thankful for my work and help.
I only pass on what I've learned from some very great long time friends and mentors.
Gary Carpenter.
Herb Steiner.
Jimmy Day.
And the reason I play steel guitar and have learned so much about the steel guitar history> Lloyd Green.
Of course there is many many more; but those 4 guys have taught me so much through the years and I have bothered them with soooo many question....>I can't thank them enough.
I really enjoy the relationships I have with every one of you steel guitar brothers and Sisters(you thought I would miss the sister thing didn't you Cindy C??ha...)...and Giving back what I can to the steel guitar community is the least I can do, for the great life Steel guitar has given me.
