I don't have one in front of me, but I am wondering...
Is Sierra Lap Steel pickup-height adjustable?
In pictures, I see the 4 screws around the GeorgeL pickup... Are they spring loaded or have any way to make the pickup closer to the strings?

Yes ... Springs under the mounting tabs ... Screws in tapped holes in the aluminum plate
