He's got my vote Joe!! He's a great player, funny as all get out, and he survived playing for quite a few years with my Dad and the Cowboy Caravan at Lake Compounce. Where do I sign??

Smiley recorded on the Texas Twist Album with Chubby Checker. On the Sun label.
The picture was from an article in the Nashburg News about the session. Now talk about versatility ?

For 2015 a nice deserving class to choose from would be Smiley, Mike Johnson Terry Bethel, Dan Dugmore and though he is too humble to about a nomination. Who has done more for the Steel Guitar than our b0b.

Not to throw water on anyone's public wish list, their homage to their hero or heroine, or online attempt to rouse the rabble Wink, but to my knowledge neither Joe Casey nor anyone else has ever bothered to assemble a nomination packet for Smiley Roberts and sent it to the HOF Committee.

Surely the veteran members of this Forum, like Joe, know the drill for nomination procedures. It's been posted here time and time again, obviously to the deaf ears and blind eyes of some. And also that y'all's "votes" are actually votes for the amorphous "hall of fame of public opinion," and not for the ISGHOF.

I also realize that it's much easier to post comments here on the Forum than it is to actually assemble the information and send it to Chuck Lettes, the sec'y of the Hall of Fame Convention Board. Sending the information to Chuck will put Smiley on the list of suitable candidates for HOF induction.

So Joe, if you REALLY want to move the process along, write the material and send it on, rather than fan the flames here, which frequently does little other than to bring on complaints and innuendos about the decisions of the Board members; all of whom BTW, with one exception, are members of the Forum and can be addressed publicly by our names.
