After about 40 hours of seat time, I decided it was time to attend a local jam session with my PSG. I had a blast. Pretty much stuck to practicing 1-4-5. Even managed to stick the 2 chord a couple of times. I would like to find a DVD that would help me find fill and transition licks. Great way to work towards getting my legs under me.

I moved from tele to PSG at the end of band practice earlier this week. Played Farewell Party for the fist time. What a train wreck. Pretty serious practice so I'm glad I could provide some comic relief. It will be better next time.

Brave man...lol, I've been playing steel for almost four years and I still hesitate to play farewell party...Unless, My rhythm player condemns Me to it lol.

Jam sessions(if You can still find Them)are about the best way to really woodshed on steel, I've learned(Almost)everything I know from stage time at jams.

I've been playing for 43 years, and Farewell Party still scares me to death. I can play it, but if you mess up on one part, you have trouble recovering. Love the song and love playing it.

The way Gene Watson sang that without any self-pity is a master's performance. But we depend on that steel to tell the truth that is underneath.

We just started doing it. I've played music professionally on and off since 1977. Every time I start that intro I get the willies.....lol
