Fantastic... Your transitions from open strings to the bar are sooo smooooth. Thanks Doug!

Another cool arrangement, Doug. Love the hammer-ons and pull-offs.

Thanks guys. The song is in the key of Am, so the open string hammer-ons, pull-offs, unisons of C6 (Am7) tuning work particularly well with this tune. I'm glad you like it.

Very nice tune and well thought out. What technique and tone. Also, listening to this song makes me think of what a brutal winter we had in Mass and "Summertime" is approaching. Bravo!

Thanks Bosse and Len. Yes, we had a cold winter in Mass. this year! Surprised

Someone on Youtube asked me about Gibson's P-90 pickup, and for some reason there is no "reply" button on his post so I can't answer it... so I'll answer it here and maybe he'll read this. The pickup on my Century 6 is not a P-90. P-90s have adjustable pole pieces. This pickup is pre-P-90. It's like a Fender pickup. Fairly large raised poles. An extremely hot and lively pickup. Regarding the current P-90 pickups, I don't know anything about them. I've never played a modern Gibson guitar w/P-90.

I definitely hear that in your playing...you do it as well as anyone I've heard.

Beautifully played as usual. You make it look so easy. I always give your videos at least 3 looks......1 for the overall effect......1 to watch your bar work and the last to study your right hand and how you pick and block.

So, Doug. This is really beautiful. Are you going to put it in the next 25 songs? and if so, please hurry! I always appreciate your skillful work; just wish I lived close enough to take some lessons.

Thank you.
James

Beautifully played, Doug. I admire how your improv flows organically and avoid the need so many (myself included) try to add in to be clever or show off. You just play the song naturally, beautifully and soulfully. What can be improved on that?

James, thank you, I have no plans to do tab for this one at this time. I've been working on a new 16 song package. The tab is completed, and I'm working on the recordings now. The recording process is painfully slow for me because I'm such an insane perfectionist! There will be three tunings used in the book: C6, A6, B11 (same set of strings for all three tunings). It will be a few months before it's finished. It Will be in 2014, that's all I can say... Cool

Andy, thank you for your kind words. Regarding the improv, yes, it "flows naturally" but I did spend several hours working the solo out in advance, exactly what I would play, when to do the hammer-ons and pull-offs, when to play high or low, etc. Except for that last short solo toward the end. That was an 'off script' moment. Cool

BTW the song is in the key of Am, which is a great key for hammer-ons and pull-offs on C6(Am7) tuning. My "Ghost Riders" arrangement is also in the key of Am and features lots of H & P in the melody and the improv. Both videos are good demos of pick blocking too, in my humble opinion. Thanks again

If anyone is interested... the backing track I used is on Youtube ----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMxaGYVivdM

The first part of the track has vibes playing the melody. So I deleted the entire first chorus and pasted the chorus After the solo to the front of the track, where the original chorus was.
