I'm batting 0-14. I have a Peavey Renown 400 chassis that I'm putting into a custom made 115 cabinet (to be stained, etc.). I do not have any knobs...and don't necessarily want the colored knobs.
I'm having a problem figuring out what the true size of the shafts are. Initially I thought 13 of 14 shafts were 1/4" but the 1/4" knobs that I rec'd from Amplified Parts are too small. When I try to measure the shafts, it looks a hair bigger than 1/4". Does anyone know what the true size of these shafts were? I would imagine most of the Peavey 80's amps shared some common pots.
These are the knobs I tried. Notice they are supposed to be 1/4" http://www.tubesandmore.com/products/P-K300C
I'm also having trouble finding a lower knob for the tone sweep (concentric). I tried the one found on Amplified Parts' site, but again....not a fit.
This is the lower knob that I tried: http://www.amplifiedparts.com/products/P-K423
I'm hoping someone with experience with this can lend me a hand. I will surely appreciate it.
The picture is of the tone sweep pot....obviously not my amp.

I know I didn't get any replies on this yet but I think I have a theory...and maybe someone could check me on this. The Peavey Renown pot shafts are 1/4" US standard. The chicken head nobs that I rec'd from Amplified Parts (same ones as Tubes and More) are probably 6mm, not the advertised 1/4". I'm thinking this because I find it hard to believe that there is some odd sized shaft in the US made Peavey. Still, if anyone can confirm this or answer my other questions, I would be grateful.
Thanks, |

Have you tried calling Peavey?
The parts dept may lead you astray trying to find the right knob, but Mike Brown can surely get you a part #.

Thanks for the reply Bill. I haven't tried Peavey yet but that is a good idea. I think I was originally confused when Amplified Parts sent me knobs advertised as 1/4". But they were slightly smaller - my guess is metric. I have other knobs coming to try. For the dual control, I've contacted Virgil to see if he has a spare set to sell. That one will be the challenge. |

Thanks Joe. I am looking at that site for options for some of the other knobs, but their option for the bottom control (tone sweep) won't work....already tried it. I think Virgil has me covered. Thanks again! |

Virgil,
I rec'd the knob. Thanks so much! It would have been impossible for me to find a replacement.
