I see that Musician's Friend recently started offering Chandler Lap Steels for sale in their catalog. Are these lap steels any good? I play Dobro and am attempting to learn pedal steel. I have considered picking up a lap steel to play on some songs as an alternative to my Dobro.

I tried one of their long scale baritone lap steels a while back at a NAMM show in L.A. and it sounded lovely. But I couldn't hang w/only 6 strings and they don't make an 8 stringer.I don't know about the one you're talking about, but I suspect it's more than decent.

If you want a real hot pickup that will sustain get a CHANDLER.They wind their own pickups and the body design is neat. These steels can be seen on their web site.If you want a guitar that looks as good as it sounds get a CHANDLER.

try it before you buy it...they sound good, but I hated the string spacing...to tight for me. Sold it...
