Does anyone know when Fender stopped using the removable baffle board in the twin ? I have a chance to purchase a 73, not sure if I can replace the baffle for a 15" speaker .
Is the non-removable baffle referred to as "dadoed" ?
Thanks.

My early 74 doesn't have the removable baffle. I pity the person down the line that's going to eventually have to deal with installing a new baffle once this one falls apart.

I think it was around 1971 but I'm not 100% on that..

If you're not able to see the amp in person, ask for some pics of the inside of the cabinet. The screws that hold the baffle and the wooden cleats are easily seen.

FWIW, If you haven't tried the 12's on a Twin before, you might be surprised at how well they work for steel. I actually think I like them better, YMMV.

I once owned a 70's dadoed baffle board Twin. I cut out the old baffle flush with the cabinet, installed cleat strips and a new baffle board. Make sure new cleats don't interfere with your strap nuts.

John, Chris, Bill, Jerry,
Thanks for the info. From the photo, I think I see cleats, hard to tell. Good point about the two 12s may be adequate. They do look like pretty wimpy 12s, only one way to tell. I'm trying to arrange a meeting with the seller.
Thanks again.
