Today me and this old Fingertip bonded. I've bought and played and sold a couple dozen Pedal Steels. They've all played and sounded nice. But I never really found one that fit me. I'm a big man and always felt uncomfortable behind every steel I've owned which in turn hindered my enthusiasm. So today I set this Fingertip up and went through the motions. After an hour or so it happened. I've been playing her since about 10 this morning. I know they're old, I know they are a pain to tune (it's been easy for me) and I know they make a bunch of mechanical noise. It may be the extra width or something but it just feels roomier. I like Fingertips, and I like them a bunch. There, I said it. Very Happy

Thanks James. I bought this one last year from Craig Davidson. It needs some serious cleaning up and I had considered having Ricky do his thing but I backed off as I hadn't yet "felt" it, I may go ahead and look into having it updated. Anyway, great hearing from you.

I thought that jewel was familiar--great of Craig to pass such a beautiful classic to you. Ricky will do you right, when you are ready. He will bring out the best in your 'bud. Smile

Mine is a bit clunky mechanically but I love the sound more than any steel I've ever had!

K Maul, I agree. I took the advice that James Moorehead gave someone else and pulled a couple of lengths of foam between the rods. It sure enough resolved the "rattle" noises. I've heard they are mushy, slow and don't stay in tune well. I say to each his own.

Welcome to Fingertip land. I just got mine today. Of coarse I still have to finish putting her together. Enjoy.

Hey Craig, Thanks again for the deal last year. It's put of the case now and set up. It is everything you said it was.
JOHNNY COX! Great to hear from you. I've been waiting to see pics of yours and I have caught your occasional post on facebook about it. Good luck on your bass adventures.
Y'all take care.

James Morehead. Check your email. Let's get this Fingertip on the road. Let's make it a "can't get no better" Fingertip. Very Happy

Fingertip tone is, well, the Fingertip tone. To me it's got it. Mechanics are tricky but once you iron them out and learn to dance with the guitar you're golden. Have James go through the changer. He did an AMAZING job on my 'tip and it tunes to a razor's edge.
