and was wandering how to decode the
serial number

Go to this thread, and go to page 11. You are looking for a long post by Gene Hough, near the bottom. That will give you the month your guitar was built if it is within the years he has info. If you want something more specific, you can look through earlier posts and perhaps find a serial numuber within a couple of numbers of yours, and deduce about what day it was made.
