My Guitar is a late 50`s early 60`s Sierra built by Chuck Wright D10 with 9 Pedals, Cable operated.
There is some work to do, but I just want to fix what´s necessary. My aim is to maintain the vintage character of the steel.
Two of the hooks to mount the ball-ends of the strings at the changer are missing. Can anybody tell me how those hooks are called and where to get them?
Positioning of the cables from the pedals to changer:
FRONT NECK
1.- 2. and 6.- 10. string is not connected 3.raised by pedal 4(1cable of pedal 4 is not con.) 4.lower by pedal 1, raised by pedal 3 5.lower by pedal 1, raised by pedal 2
BACK NECK
1.- 2. and 8.- 10. sting is not connected 3.raised by pedal 5 4.lower by pedal 9 5.lower by pedal 8 6.raised by pedal 6 7.raised by pedal 7
What tuning and copedant can I use?
(The music that i play is 50´s Classic Country)
Is there a manual existent for this guitar?
I´m glad for every information about this guitar. Thanks a lot!
Greetings from good ole Germany,
Wendl |

Wendelin,
You have a very Beautiful Wright/ Sierra. Just another example of Great Craftsmanship from Chuck Wright.
I wouldn't know who may have the parts for your Steel but I would check with several knowledgeable Gentlemen here on the Forum.
I would Contact David Wright and see if he has any Idea as to the name of the parts you are asking about. You might also contact Chris Lucker. He has experience with the Wright Sierra steels also. There are many other Guy's here that have knowledge of the parts you might need. I can not give you their info as to protect their privacy But all you need do is PM them on the forum.
I too Own a Wright. But it is a quad 10 string non pedal Console. I sure love it. Good luck on your repairs. Bob G. |

I use to have S/N 00015. Will look and see if I still have any original factory info on it or not.
That changer is single lower and single raise. A lot of the undercarriage on those steels were from aircraft parts. |

Wendelin, I hope you get the info you need. I am so glad you are preserving this old Wright/Sierra. These Old Steels are what I would call a Classic of Steel Guitars. Kind of like owning a pristine 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible. You just can not find too many of them. and they are a treasure to own. Enjoy your Wright/ Sierra my friend from Europe. Here is a pic of my Wright #0049

Wendelin,
If I'm reading your question right, the parts you need is something you could get at a hard ware store
The pieces you need were what we all had back in the day , it was part of your bath tube we had a stopper that let us fill the tub, that piece was hooked to the stopper..I hope this helps ya, Great to see another one of Dad's guitars still being played..)))

Thank you, David for your reply. This helps me a lot - to think, that something can be so simple! Some friends, who are touring New Mexico right now, are on the lookout now for bathtub-stoppers!
If ever I have more questions about the sierra may I contact you again?
Thanks again,
Wendl |

Here it is! An old picture of my Sierra/Wright D10.
The picture is showing Cecil "Butterball" Harris at the "Cow Palace" in Tyler Texas 1970. He was a Member of Jimmy Heap and his Melody Masters, they played with Bill Taylor on this picture.
