My excel Supurb 12 has a problem with cabinate drop on the middle G# string. When you press the A pedal it goes flat by about 7cent.

I can only make it better through chance in the past, if anyone can help I'd much appreciate it... We're playing the Sydney Opera House tomorrow and its bugging me a lot

Thanks
Chris

The best way to minimise cabinet drop on the sixth string is to change from a plain .022 to a wound .022

Unfortunately this requires some alterations to the pedal and lever linkage connection points, as a wound sixth needs a lot more travel to raise/lower a semitone/tone than a plain string.

If you are handy with the mechanics of a pedal steel, changing to a wound sixth should present no problem, and all the changes to the raise/lower linkage connection points can be done in a few minutes.

However, if you're not mechanically minded, and you have a major gig in a few hours, don't mess with it, the audience have come to see Billy Bragg, and won't notice your cabinet drop problem

with the greatest of respect to Richard, beware that if you lower your 6th string a whole tone, (which I do) it won't lower if it's a wound 22.

I bet an Excel will. My Zum does it with a wound sixth. LONG throw required

Based on the topic title, I believe the OP is asking about adjusting the "anti cabinet drop" device designed into his guitar.

Thanks for all your replies. This guitar does have a system built into it to counteract this problem which seems a bit awkward to tune. Here's a photo of it.

I managed to get the E to not drop in pitch but the middle G# and B move a bit which is frustrating
