Carroll Benoit asked me to post the following:
"We welcome everyone coming to TSGA to come by and visit. We are in the Galleria II room - Benoit Guitars. 90% of out guitars are on sale for a 20% discount for the TSGA show only. We'll have some very different instruments on display. We will also have a resonator workshop on how to keep your instrument in the best playing condition. Come by and jam with a host of players. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

The Benoit room has been the center of a number of hot jam sessions in past TSGA shows. I expect the same will be the case this year.

I'm certainly going to miss not attending the Dallas Show this year.....first time since I began going in 2002......and what I will miss the most is tuning up all of Carroll's guitars on the Thurs before the show......I loved having my way with every single one of his gorgeous custom resonators.....sometimes it was love at first slide and I would end up with that guitar......
Carroll is bringing about 21 guitars to the show and offering a 20% DISCOUNT (except for several of his own personal guitars that are not for sale).....this is a huge savings.......you'll be able to tickle any of them right there in one place and walk out with a custom made one of a kind....... |

He built me one that looks very similar Eric - it is Myrtle Wood. I never get tired of looking at it. |

Ben-wah! Carroll's guitars are special. I've got an interview I did with him for Fretboard Journal that never ran but is in my new book coming out soon. _________________ Steel Guitar Books! Website: www.volkmediabooks.com |

I wait for this time every year - It's only second to going hunting. As a current owner of a couple of "Benoit's", I can hardly wait to see his latest masterpieces. Come by & say howdy, as I will be spending a lot of time with Carroll & Anita in the Benoit room.

Bob, Yummm, myrtle is one of my favorite woods; I bet it's a beauty. How does it sound? Are the Benoit's in the modern or trad sounding camp? |

I'd say modern Eric. They all seem to have their own voice though. The Myrtle with the wood cover plate sounds gorgeous - a little on the warm side with tons of sustain, yet also some zing. Not as loud as my maple Benoit, but plenty of volume. |

Eric,I too have a Myrtle wood with wood plate - sounds great & even looks better. I think Carroll only made a very few of these, so if any of you are thinking of getting one, now is the time.
Bob, looking forward to seeing you & Rick. |

Hey everyone! Carroll Benoit said he will be setting up at noon today. Phyllis & I are heading out to the Hotel to help them set up. He said he has something out of the ordinary (He said something about a 36 string Guitar???). Can't wait to see what he's done. Probably another crazy thing for Howard R. |

Is that "striped" one the Brazilian tri-cone or did Carroll build a new one similar to it? |

There are two tricones with 3 National cones......mine and the one posted here which is Carroll's personal guitar......the others have the tricone facing with a single cone..... |
