He definitely had one...I'm assuming that it is legit.

Heck, a new one is like $3,200 and a long wait.

I wonder what this will go for...$10,000 or more???
Not sure why the seller put local pick-up only on it...kind of excludes a lot of people now doesn't it. Not sure the guy understands what he really has Wink

Good 25L15s sell for $9,000 to $16,000. This one is number 36 from 1955, if I recall. I do not know about the covering.

Celebrity ownership has little relevance with a 25L15 since most of them were celebrity owned anyway. But the fact is that Buddy Emmons was not known for playing through a 25L15 just as he was not known for playing his Bigsby, so there is no real name value. However, if you had the two together you could bump the value of both the Bigsby and Standel as a matched set. There are just a handful of opportunities to match a Bigsby steel and Standel 25L15 -- Lee Buck, Mike Young, Marian Hall, Dan Boyd, Wayne Burdick, Ben Jack, Speedy West, Emmons. There might be one more.

The EBay listing has been pulled and resisted with a starting bid of $10,000.

Well,
I don't think it will sell for 10K , but if he kept at 3K it would have sold for what it's worth.
Buddy was known for playing all the instruments he played, The Little Jimmy Dickens recordings with Buddy playing the Bigsby, was the foundation of his career.

The last two original functioning Standel 25L15 amps that I paid attention to, sold on ebay for well over $15,000. Sorry guys. They both had histories but someone else can tell their stories... There was also a piggyback model that was made for Semie Moseley, which had sat neglected for years, it was first listed at a very high opening bid, but later sold at no reserve, don't remember the price but it was under 5 grand - coincidentally, I ran into the guy who bought it at a guitar show in Texas later on. He said he put it on a variac and everything warmed up fine and worked. The seller was happy to hear about that!

I guarantee no one was going to get that amp for less than 110% of its value. The Bigsby is available right now as well, so a match is possible.

I wonder if that is the first one Buddie had? He did have several anyhow and Bob Crooks made another batch after the ones on the "Buthcer paper list". At least the speaker is a replacement (D130"F"). Those didn't come until Leo started using JBL's in his amps, much later than -55. Wonder what color Buddie's first Standel was? I've seen one with a dark colored naugahyde, but that could've also been Spider Wilson's amp. Then on some Gannaway films there's a white one behind him, who knows? Either way, this is a cool find!
Chris, do you know what condition his Bigsby is?

Here's a photo of the dark color naugahyde Standel, also note the aluminium trim which is lacking from the ebay amp, maybe reupholstered?

Anyone notice who the bass player is. I remember this photo well, and knew most of the guys in it.

Cool amp for sure. I wonder if the electronics were modified at the time the speaker was changed? Either way, I bet it sounds great!
