Hey gang,
I'm sure someone will know immediately the solution, as you all always do!
I changed by low B string (Sierra S10) and now, when I slide the bar over it, it makes a grinding noise (and feel), almost like a nails on chalkboard type sound. It's awful.
I changed the string again, same problem.
Is it my bar? Will it go away in time?
Thanks!

The bar wears windings a bit flat so at the end of a string life, its a lot smoother than at the beginning.
If you don't like that problem, give Frenchy's noiseless strings a whirl. |

If you switched to the same metal that your bar's made of, it'll stick a bit. And sound like it. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Good right-hand muting will take care of most of the noise. |

Try using Finger-ease or other string lubricant. |

Also good left hand technique will help eliminate that issue.
You are in Nashville ! The best steel players in the world live there. Turn off the computer and go have somebody show you. _________________ Bob |

No, But I've seen him before, he's a very good player!
(Rarely do I find out about players appearing nearby until after things have happened.) |
