Two Cube 80XL's!
I liked the first one so much, I just had to buy a second one.

Hi Lee:
I have an 80XL that use with an extension speaker. Sounds nice and full for six string and steel. Are you playing in stereo with the two amps? |

Hi Lee, what's the story with the emblem being in the center? I also use 2 80SL's, but turn mine on their side and stack them (so i can get to the controls) _________________ Justice The Judge SD-10, 2007

Lee I own and play two Cubes also. It's fun to set the controls differently on each amp to get some great amp sounds.
How do you intend to control the amps, "double outs" on your pedal. I have modded my peadals (Hilton's) to tuner out. I have been considering to reverse the mod to avoid using a splitter.
Enjoy

I should also mention that my cube does not have the emblem in the middle and I double faced taped a CD in the center of the middle grille. I had a small open back cab and a speaker from a Fender Deluxe and with the 80XL it blends spreads the sound nicely. |

It looks like the emblem is being used as a diffuser..
These amps, tend to have a very sharp and focused "center".. Many guys smoothed and spread the sound out on these amps by placing something mid speaker, on the grille, taking out the spike... It works. I use an old CD. siliconed onto the inside of the metal grille.
a few guys have simply taken the emblem, placed it in the center of the grille, and say that it works fine as well.. I see no reason it wouldn't..
If you ever see a sound man or recording engineer setting up amp mikes, they always tend to put the mike on the outside of the speaker, NOT in the center.. Same theory I guess... Not as spiky... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

The emblem is attached to the grill with two small screws. There are small, flat pieces of metal on the back side of the grill that serve as nuts. Don't unscrew those screws until you remove the grill.
I don't know how much this helps with "beam blocking"; but, I figured it couldn't hurt.

I used a blank cd disc attached with molding double sided tacky tape for a beam blocker on mine and liked it . _________________ Zum D10 8x5,rev pre-amp, TC M300, Split 12, n-112, IZZY, Hilton vp, Geo L, BJS Hughey, Live Steel |
