Don was my inspiration to take up the steel guitar. He never considered himself a star and always had time for fans and wannabee steelers, even to the end. Cool

Jean and I got to know Don about 4 years before his passing. He treated us as if he had known us all his life. A real loss, and We miss him greatly. Larry

Thanks Danny for reminding us of Don's birthday.
And thank you for introducing me to him many years ago. He is my hero on steel guitar and as a man.
This is my favorite picture of me and Don.

Don Helms was a dear friend of mine since 1980.

He and Zane Beck were two of my all time favorite people in the Steel Guitar business.

What you saw was what you got! These two Great guys had a tremendous influence on my steel playing and my outlook on life. I am sure they did the same for countless others.

Next, Don and I talked extensively about many things over the years including about Jesus our Lord and Savior. I expect to hear and see him again on the other side.

Thanks for sharing and my GOD bless!
