I'm stringing my resonator up to a B6 tuning. i do this because I play B6 on my pedal steel and thats what I'm familiar with. These are some string gauges I plucked off of www.steelc6th.com for a C6 tuning.

1 - E 014
2 - C 018
3 - A 022
4 - G 024w
5 - E 030w
6 - C 036w

Should I just stick with these gauges for B6? Or can I go a little heavier?

I'm waiting for an answer to this because I would also like to try this tuning on my dobro. It's a lower tuning than C6 but probably a little longer scale so I don't think you would have to go too much larger, but I'm no expert. Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in soon. I found this on another older post, but still may be a bit light.

.015, .017, .020, .024w, .030, .036

Morrell's standard C6 set is heavier than this at:

.016, .019, .022, .024N, .030N, .038N

So I'm sure that would probably be fine in B6 on a dobro, of course they are nickel...you may prefer bronze on the dobro?

Paul,

Those strings should probably be OK for B6 on a reso. The lower tuning (B6) will be compensated for by the increased scale length of your reso.
