Topic: Dismantling an MSA Classic need help |

I am in the middle of taking the back side off of my MSA Classic and I have taken out every screw that I can see and it will not come loose, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks John McGlothlin P.S. it is an aluminum peace with some knee levers attached.

| John, there are two machine screws on each end to the end plate, and then just the wood screws to top deck, if the crossshafts are still in it could be binding on bushings or it could be stuck where the guitar was finished or the glue from the felt, a little working and it should come loose, hope this helps, I just had one apart for cleaning. |

Some pictures would help, but John's right. There's lots of screws. Better question: WHY do you need the rear apron off?

Hi Lane, I removed the back apron to get a cross shaft out of the way of some wood screw that hold the neck on, and by the way when I removed it I saw a name engraved on it. Here is a pic of the name on the inside apron and I was wondering if it is Russ Wever who might have owned this MSA at one time. It was built in the mid seventies. Also here is a pic of the guitar, I bought it from the Carter Company abut 10 years ago.

There's a panel on the apron that comes off to allow cross-shaft removal, no need to remove the whole apron.
Does sound interesting.

Yes, that's the first M. S. A. I had.
I got it used from Scotty in perhaps
1975 and let go of it in probably the
early '80's.
I've had the back plate off a number of
times for changing the set-up and adding
hardware but don't recall having any
problems removing it.
Interesting to know that
it is still in service.
