I have long enjoyed the recording of "Marie" that Chet Atkins did with Jerry Byrd on the album "Jazz from the Hills". I think this is a great tune. Anyone play this and have it tabbed out ? I attempt to play a simple single string version of it on C6th, but would enjoy seeing a tabbed version of it done more professionally than I could do. |

I too, love this great song and the fellows you mentioned did one fantabulous job on it.
I used to play it with a western swing dance band group. The crowd always seemed to enjoy. |

Larry...
Seems to me that I remember Herb Steiner having recorded this tune. And he has a lot of tablature, so he may have this for you.

I played it at our local opry last month. The band leader's wife is named Marie, so we occasionally play it for her. Great tune.
Thanx,
Jim |

Just FYI - - - "Marie" is on the album "Chet Atkins' Workshop" and is beautifully done as one would expect from Chet. |

Yes it is and thanks for that reminder...that was one of the first albums I purchased of Chets back in the 60s...I think I have all of Chets over 120 recordings, plus his Bear Family box set....obviously one of my early guitar heros along with the Ventures. I see Nokie at CAAS every year in Nashville and I had Chet sign my Gibson CG in the late 90s at one of those conventions...a truely remarkable, talented, humble man he was. As the banner says, "there will never be another Chet" ! |
