Whenever I think of a single-neck 10-string guitar, I tend to automatically think E9 or one of its variants. My question: is there anyone who only plays C6 on a 10-string? Might be a dumb question, but it's the one on my mind at present...

i would imagine most modern players apt to go this route would play U-12.
there is a carter on ebay right now that would fill your need for cheap though.

I'm not looking for a guitar; I was just wondering if there's been anyone of note who chose to play C6 solely on pedals. It just seems interesting to me that E9 "rules" the single-neck world. I guess commercial tastes help dictate that.

Jerome, I think you're probably right: most modern players would probably choose a U12.

My 8-string D6th has almost all of the C6th changes changes on it (it's missing P4 and the A to Ab lever). And it has the E9th's A & B pedals. I rarely use E9th or the D-10 for gigs anymore. The 8 string is my primary guitar.
