I'm excited to announce the Rick Alexander Non-Pedal Sessions at the TSGA Convention in Dallas, Texas, March 13-16, 2014!!!

The link to the TSGA website with general convention info is below. It runs Thursday to Sunday, whereas the Non-Pedal room will only be open on Friday and Saturday (14th & 15th).

www.texassteelguitar.org

There are plenty of hotels in the vicinity to stay at, as the Sheraton (main hotel) is full. In fact, I usually stay at one next door anyway, which is in super-easy walking distance.

Our list of players is subject to change, but so far we have the following players (in no particular order), in our line up:

Billy Robinson, Jon Ely, Rose Sinclair, Herb Steiner, Carco Clave, Bob Blair, The Cajun Boys, Ivan "The Captain" Reddington, John Lang, Mark Roeder, Chuck Lettes, Margie Mays, Wade Pence, Albert Talley, and many more...

The Non-Pedal pizza party will follow the performances on Friday....Fun, Fellowship, and Food!!!

We'll have an informal jam session on Friday night. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged. We usually form a circle around the room and take turns playing solos.

As usual, we run off of donations, and costs rise a little each year. So please consider donating a small amount to help support the show. We don't charge admission like they do in the main pedal room, so the only way we have to cover out event expenses is via donations. I'll list the names of the supporters in a thank you post. If a donor prefers to remain anonymous, just let me know.

If you'd like to send a paper check, please contact me directly for address information. If you are going to be at the show, you could always donate in person. Otherwise, the PayPal address to donate is: RANONPEDAL@GMAIL.COM

Any amount you can give would be great. The performances will be video taped for all to enjoy on YouTube afterwards. Stephen Cowell will be taping this year, and you can see some of his nice HD camera work already on YouTube.

Thanks to everyone for their support, and let's all get together in March for the celebration. Come see the greats play up close and personal!!

Smile Smile Smile

This year we'll be featuring singer, songwriter, and artist, Kristyn Harris!

http://www.kristynharris.com/

She will be performing with John Lang on steel guitar. We're glad Kristyn cold join us, and you folks are in for a real treat when she performs on Friday's Sessions.

We also have Roger Edgington from San Antonio, Texas this year. He'll be playing on Friday, too.

I'd like to say a big thank you to George Piburn, Steve Cowell, Rose Sinclair, Mark Moseley, and Bob Blair for their donations toward the event. That's what keeps our admission free! Smile

We're working on a seminar, and it's looking positive. I'm close to knowing some details soon...

More to come! Smile

See you guys in 2015. It's been a few years for Dallas for me.

I am entering semi-retirement from my day job! Next year in Dallas for sure.

Have a great show this weekend!

A few highlights from Friday in the Non-pedal Room:
Roger Edgington tore it up today and Debbie Talley had everyone swooning with her silky alto nuanced delivery of "Crazy" (Albert on steel). Billy Robinson had everyone in stitches with his road stories and new house guitarist Jamey Cummins took many great solos and is a nice guy to boot. Bassist (and flugelhorn player) Richard Wright knows all music and has no need for charts, having played in Vegas for years with artists like Sinatra and Woody Hermann. Tony Locke shared his triple-neck tunings with us, and the Friday night pizza party was awesome as usual. Of course there's more, but this is just off the top of my head.... Very Happy

Does he go by the nick name of "Rocky?"

If so, I know exactly what you're talking about.....if not......you're in for the same level of playing tomorrow.....(actually, today for me)....

Thanks for the report.....I miss not seeing you this year....

Sorry! YouTube has changed (again) the way they do things... I have to push a 'publish' button, which I just did... try it again.

And thanks, Sonny, for bringing it to my attention.

I just wanted to take a second and thank Jeff Strouse, Mark Roeder, and Stephen Cowell for doing so much work in putting the event together, making the room look cool with stage lighting, and for filming the whole event. You guys are one of a kind.

yes, THANKS to Jeff, Mark, Stephen and the crew behind the scenes. this is a first class production, I spent more time in the RA room than the main stage. We had great attendance, the room being full most of the sessions. This is a really special event and i hope it keeps getting better. Very nice to have John Ely grace us with a seminar and wonderful performance of Hawaiian tunes.
