seen a few of these. decided to give it a try and do something a little different. coming along nicely. decided to cut a ledge for the gears. leave the excess neck wood for strength. really helps the sustain. hope to shoot some lacquer if i can get a decent temp day. matching it up with an import strat body and see if someone might want it. might make up some more of these. lot of fun to make. 24" scale and 3/8" spacing both ends. that piece of maple is 30+ years old. i bought it..i should know.

Great neck design idea, Bill! I am also glad to see the "clutter" on our workbenches looks about the same.

Looks great.
Was one of the goals to get a sharper string an angle over the nut to the tuners?

that will sure help you with sustain too! main thing was to keep all the strength in the headstock you can. easy to just cut an angle back the same thickness the machine head needs. you can take those guitars and wiggle the headstock up and down and hear the pitch change in the strings!! this eliminates that.

Awesome work, Bill -- very clean and well thought out. Did you start with one piece of wood or is that a build-up? Looks solid in the photos.

Nice work Bill, I talked with you at length Friday on the phone. I'll probably get back with you very in the next day or so on the project we discussed.
