I like to shorten the thumb picks tab & round it, like Joe Wright shows in this Sierra Lap Steel Video 2 around 1:52, but it is never consistent when I do it by hand, and I have no access for a grinding wheel, thus my question.

I see that the Padded Picks are being offered again, and I just might jump on those if I can not get these Alaska Picks to work....I have thin nails, and these seem to need somewhat stronger ones than I have. Crying or Very sad

Anyway, if anyone knows where these MIGHT be available, please let me know! Cool

All you have to do if you want a stubby thumb pick is to file it down to suit you. Don't use a grinder, a finger nail file works just fine.
That is what I have done for years.
You can also change the shape, if you like. Very Happy
