Can someone identify this Fender double guitar? I am looking to getting one Fender, eventually. Is this a good price?

Hi Rob
No legs, no case, finish stripped, $749 is too much money. Fender Dual Pro steels come up for sale here on the forum often, I would wait for a real nice one.

I'd guess it's a 1948-53 Fender Dual 8 Professional with possibly the "walnut" or "dark" finish used at that time. It's hard to guess the value based on just that one photo. Some of those guitars did not come with legs or leg sockets.

Thanks guys,

Let that one pass by. I'd rather a Stringmaster!

Rob, you might try contacting Ian Maclatchie or Jimmy Roy, both are forum members living in BC.
I have bought or sold with both of them, they might know of a Stringmaster for sale.

Thanks John,

I've seen Ian's name around the forums. Don't recognize the other name. It would be great to get it nearby so's I could try it out! I love the sound of my Rick doing my version of Sleepwalk in G high bass, but after hearing that version of Santos and Johnny and whichever one was playing that very cool high vibe of a harmonic slide on a Fender (it's cooler for that piece (5,7,14,9) on the 1st string, plus vibrato (very shaky) and the harmonic (about 1 out of 4 attempts)..Anyway, would love to add a Fender double 8 to grow into one day.
Thanks Brad and I got your pm Ken.
I'll what (ppm?)

Wise move, IMHO, or get a Deluxe 8, if you want single neck Stringmaster.

Jimmy Roy lives in Vancouver, I don't have his number handy but if you Google Bone Rattle Music on Commercial drive his # is on their site. He teaches there. He'll know where the steels are.
