Just thinking about parting with my RK 6-string and moving up (or across?) to an 8-string. I thought I might build one, (I built my own square-neck reso and cable PSG) or look at an entry-level model...maybe even a fixer-upper or an abandoned project? I'm wide open to ideas. But the price has to be right if it's coming from the USA to Ireland (bearing in mind our punitive 'how dare you buy outside of Europe' import duties and taxes)
Anything out there?
PS: If I build, is there a one-stop shop for 8-string
parts?
Thanks in advance......

George Boards.......in Oklahoma might be a reasonable place to start.

He's advertised on the Jerry Byrd-Fan Club.com site.

Hi,

Sometimes fait is right on. I just signed up here on the forum with the intention of selling most of my late Fathers equipment and parts. Andy Hinton was a regular here and bought and sold a lot of stuff here. I know that I have at least two of his hand made 8 or 10 string lap steels with custom hand made cases that I may try to auction off or just sell outright. I also have boxes full of 8 and ten string parts for sale. I have even found several of the coated finger picks he used to sell here often. I am very busy with work and such but I am going to try to devote most of my weekends to this for a while.

Roger

Jim...I checked out various Melberts, they look great and I'd be keen to see pics of yours, although the price might be a tad over my budget after I include shipping and import taxes etc.
Roger, condolences on the loss of your dad, PM sent.
