Got my E9 neck mostly back together this weekend and for the first time have the F# - G# change on my 7th. Love that change and am now kicking my own $%^ for not doing it sooner!!!
Now for my only remaining problem. I placed, for experimental reasons, the Franklin pedal on my pedal 4. This pedal also will raise my C6 A's to B. Problem is that I can't seem to lower my E9 5th string all the way to A. I get a good solid Bb but can't make the rest of the trip. The G# - F# drops right into place. I have a 93 LeGrande and have the pull set on the last hole in the bellcrank. Any suggestions?
Thanks loads for any help.

As a post-script to Ricky's question, does anyone know if I could lower 5,6 and 10 a whole-step using the LKV on my LeGrande III.
It seems a bit ambitious to me, but maybe it would work - what holes should I use if I try this?
Thanks (and please excuse my butting in, Ricky )...

If you are in the hole furthest from the crossbar AND you are in the hole closest to the changer axle; AND you cannot lower the 5th string to an A; it is probably due to not having enough travel capability on that crossbar.
I suggest you loosen the return screw on that crossbar crank. You can overloosen it so it give too much travel. A bit of trial and error will get it right.
Good luck,

Make sure you don't have a split-tuning screw that restricts the 5th string lowering further than Bb.

Roger,
I haven't tried it yet, but I am planning to put that change on my vertical lever also. I also plan to put a half stop on it for the B to Bb change that I use at present.

Provided everything else is up to snuff, you could try reducing the tension on the lower-return spring, or using a heavier guage string. |
