I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on one.I play enough six-string on gigs to make the second channel a viable idea, but I'm wondering if anyone could speak to how well the Custom 15 cpmpares to older Twin Reverbs that have a 15 installed,or to SF Vibrosonics.Does the slightly larger Custom 15 cab make any difference soundwise? Also, where is the Custom 15 made? |

Hi,
I think the slightly larger cabinet adds a little to the low end. I had a twin 2-12 which I put a JBL in and that is my take on the difference. The middle control is a bit more sensitive than what I remember with the 2-12 conversion but that was several guitars and years ago so take it for what that is worth.

Although I've never experienced any problems whenever they were provided as backline amps, there have been issues in regard to the printed circuit boards in the Fender 65 Reissue Twin Reverb as well as the Custom 15. They're many topics and discussions on the forum regarding this. I would prefer an original hand-wired Twin Reverb or Vibrosonic over the reissue. There's plenty of the original silverface's out there that can be purchased used. If necessary, just have them re-capped/re-tubed. Eminence makes an excellent 4 ohm, 15" neo speaker as a replacement. _________________ GFI w/Steeltronics 507, Profex II, Nashville 112’s, Hilton, George L .155’s, BJS, Steelers Choice |
