Sorry, love Mr. Strait, Lee Ann and the Hag, but not for five figures.....
For that kind of money, it better be Elvis! _________________ Red Emmons D10 fatback #2246D with sweet Hugh Briley split cases, Black Emmons S10 #1466S, '73 Fender "Snakeskin" Twin Reverb, Peavey Nashville 400, Line 6 Pod XT, Fender 400, Fender Stringmaster Double-8, too many guitars, one bass! |

From what I could tell, it appears that George has different co-performers depending on the tour stop, and it looks like Lee Ann is involved in a few of the concerts, but she isn't on board for the whole deal. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. Perhaps Randy Beavers will read this and he can fill us in.
You guys are listing ticket prices from aftermarket ticket brokers. They are not the face value of the tickets. Ticketmaster (also fondly known at Ticketbast*rd) is handling these for most of the stops on the tour. We had a thread similar to this a few months back when Vince Gill and Paul Franklin were touring to support the Bakersfield album. People were "piling on" in their posts after there was some initial mention of ticket prices, but these prices were not from the venue itself but aftermarket broker inflated prices.
In the Bay Area the show will be at the SAP Center, formerly HP Pavilion, and known to hockey fans as The Shark Tank. Ticket price plus "convenience fee" brings the cheap seats in at $85.75, but there are few or any of these left and it appears there are few left at any of the venues for the Strait tour.
So for folks who want to go but weren't paying attention in their region when the tickets went on sale, the recourse is to go to the aftermarket ticket brokers and pay much bigger dough.
I'm not going, I've never been a big George guy. I have plenty of respect for him, have absolutely nothing against him, and I'm obviously in the minority as a country music fan since he has sold a bazillion records.
You gotta wonder though, George will be only 62 when the tour ends - the Hag will be accompanying him in Denver at age 76. George thinks he's had enough, and he'll be going out on top. But about three years from now after one day at the ranch too many, will there be a George Strait version of the multiple Eagles tours after they first came back with the "Hell Freezes Over" gigs? _________________ Mark |

What I find interesting on that site is, the same show is in Witchita the night before, and the hi-octane tickets are just a little over a grand. Still WAY TO MUCH, but it would be interesting to know there is such a difference. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . There's get-to-hang-with-the-artist backstage VIP passes and that kind of stuff at the different tour stops and people with big dough go that route. Regardless, all these aftermarket ticket broker prices can be greatly inflated way above what one could have purchased the tickets for it they'd been on top of it.
You have to wonder at the level of b.s. behind all of this. It's my understanding that StubHub, one of the big aftermarket ticket brokers is actually owned by Ticketmaster.
Sometimes it doesn't matter how on top of it you are. I have been Johnny-on-the spot for concert tickets at different times over the past several years, clicking on to the site at precisely 10 a.m. on the day tickets are to go on sale to the general public. I might be going for a a pair of $50 tix for a show and even being that diligent, I get on there and there would be virtually nothing available. Then I'd go to StubHub and find that there are plenty of tickets available in the same section where I did my original search for ballpark $125. This seems to be more than just a coincidence. ![Confused](images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) _________________ Mark |

Larry,
I saw Randy with Lee Ann, 2 years ago - around this time of year, in Las Vegas. He sounded wonderful as usual, and she was absolutely amazing. What a fantastic band, all the way around the stage.
If she is on the George Strait tour this coming year, that would be a great show to see, for sure.

Lee Ann has been in the process of changing labels and decided to take some time off. She told me she was enjoying being a "stay at home mom". I can't say I blame her, I hung up the bar and picks for several years myself so I could be a bigger part of my kids teen years.
However, 2014 looks to be different. She is releasing a new project and is planning on several dates including some of "The Cowboy Rides Away" tour. We'll have to see how everything works out, but that is the plan.
In the meantime, I'm trying to keep my "chop" polished. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

If you live in the town of the concert and don't have tickets go to the concert and see what they are selling tickets for. I happened to be in Nashville and was going to Roberts the night of the Garth Brooks concert that was selling for thousands…I walked by one of the scalpers and asked how much he was selling the tickets for, he said $25, I said no thanks and he said "how much will you pay?" I bet I could have got the ticket for $10, but I would rather listen to Scott Icenogle. |
