Don't you love the way they both put in a lot of Buddy's essence within their own individual style. Two great players tipping their hats.

Some days, that's my favorite cut on the album. Other days it's... well, any and all of 'em! Thanks to all involved -- Fish especially.

First break Paul, followed by Tommy.

Second break Vince, Tommy, Paul, Tommy.

keep in mind these were the two 13 yr old kids on the block, learning to play everything buddy did. back then they could outplay what most of us can do now. it's only natural that buddy's licks and style would show through on occassion.

Frank, I haven't heard it or I'd get in the game. Sad

Just curious. Is the name of the tune Country Boy Bounce? I'm just Country Boy?? Is there a sample?

Frank, if you listen closely you hear Vince say it - I could not understand the first one, where he says "Come on, ____", but the next one, you hear him faintly say in the background, "Come on in here, Tommy". So, if your stereo is wired correctly, Paul in on the Left channel, and Tommy on the Right.

I'm pretty sure I have that correct. But one thing I know for sure - it don't get no better!

Doug

First solo sounds more like Paul Franklin to me. Left side on my stereo. Second solo (Right side) has a lot of compression -- a la Buddy's sound in the 70s. A wonderful homage from two great players. A lesson in Emmons C6 quotes and feel for sure.

My compliments to the chef(s)

So far we have one vote for Tommy and two for Paul.

Bobby, it's "I'm Just A Country Boy." I would strongly recommend buying the CD from Amazon.com or downloading the whole album from iTunes - it's just an amazing bunch of performances.

Think Vince is saying "Come on, Hoss." Sounds like Paul on the left and Tommy on the right to me, too.

What a fun day that was! Vince gave every detail a lot of thought and care.
Anyway, Paul fills the first verse. I fill the second section(chorus). Paul has the first solo. I have the second solo. It was a bit scary having to follow Paul's solo. Never follow dog acts, kids, Paul Franklin or Vince Gill. That kind of pressure could send a fella to the ""nervous hospital".

Maybe alil' off subject but, But since were talkin bout the CD. Can anyone tell us,
what is goin, with that picture of Buddy on the back of the CD.? It look's to be a single 10 Pushpull w/6 pedals and some kind of taped up bar across the bridge
with many wires attached. Is there a story behind this pix.?

Thanks

Actually, I like Tommy's part a bit more than Paul's. It seems so effortless when I hear him play.

---I would be happy if I could play half as well as any of the players on the cd---

I found both sets of playing to be absolutely top class. I couldn't honestly say that I prefer one over the other. Both players are simply awesome, and classy gentlemen with it.

HA ! well said Tommy... A year ago at one of the County Fairs ..yep, we followed the Dog act..

As soon as the Dogs were done the area emptied out..I'm surprised nobody yelled "bring back the dogs"..maybe they did and I didn't hear them ...

Great pickin' Tommy on a great tune...

Just realized nobody ever answered Johnie
That guitar is a single-12 push-pull that Buddy played on a Flying Fish album. It had, as I recall, an E13 style tuning: E9 with one or two C#s thrown in between the Bs and Es. I believe that's an Emmons String Machine with the wires hanging off the end -- and a wrist lever for the right wrist. Album had a white cover -- I think it was the only one he used that guitar on.

Just received the CD for Christmas. What an excellent assortment of great players! This is the stuff that keeps my A$$ in the seat! Thanks to all involved.

With all due respect to all the players on this record, Gary Carters tone on Shenandoah got me in the bones! Put it through some good speakers and give it some volume. Oh MY!

I was wondering what was going on with BEs guitar as well.

Could someone provide a list of what guitars were played on this album? It is a fantastic piece of work. Thanks!
