Topic: Any Steel Player know how I can send money order to seller? |

I am looking for a way to send a money order, or the funds to my seller instantly. He DOES NOT USE PAYPAL so that is not an option.
I was thinking maybe I could go to my local post office, and have them call his Local post office, and have his local P.O. use my debit/credit card to purchase a money order there for him to pick up.
I am not sure on the USPS policy when it comes to that sort of thing.
Does anybody use Western Union or something else? I dont want to have to wait 4-5 days for snail mail to deliver my Money order!

Hi Jeff,
Probably the easiest way is a "wire transfer" from your bank accounnt to his bank account. You'll need his bank's routing number and of course, his account number. You're bank will give you all of the details. This method usually takes an hour or two. Some banks charge a fee for sending, some for receiving the money.

Another option is through customer service at Wal-Mart....ask the seller which Wal-Mart he shops and send it there. The money can be picked up usually within a hour of sending it.
The fee depends on how much money is transferred. |

Or the old standby Western Union. Every Pilot/Flying J truck stop is a Western Union station.
Western Union and Walmart MoneyGrams are instant, and nearly everywhere. If you and the seller are both near either a Walmart or a Western Union (gotta be the same, of course), those are very quick and fairly convenient options for nearly instant transfers
But those aren't, strictly speaking, money orders.
Money orders are like Cashier's checks, except they're not drawn on a bank.
And they're not electronic transfers, you have to send a piece of paper.
I'd use USPS or FedEx Overnight service if time is of the essence and s/he wants Money Order

Walmart uses Moneygram, so they can collect the money at any Walmart or Moneygram office. They do not need a bank account, only proper ID. Western Union is the same. I've used Western Union from here in the Philippines - worked great. You can check rates online for both. All the other methods work as well, although a wire transfer requires he have a bank account.
However, Paypal is a method of paying for items. They have a means to challenge and possibly retrieve your money (will not work if the guy is a true thief) if you do not get the item, or it arrives defective. Western Union, Moneygram, Wire Transfers are all methods of moving money without regard for what it is intended for. Your options if the seller proves to be dishonest are very limited. I would not suggest ANY method, but particularly not one of these, if the seller is not a known person on the forum or some other similar situation. I assume it is not an Ebay purchase as I think they all do Paypal. Your best insurance is dealing with someone who is known here, with a history of buying and selling.

The Seller is indeed a forum member. I don't think he would mind me giving his name but just in case. He just sold me the sd10 mullen royal precision that is listed in the for sale section. Seems very trustworthy.
Has anyone tried the western union/walmart way? I know that around 8 years ago they charged 10 dollars for every 100 sent! That is too expensive.

Postal Service is approx $1.60/$1,000. I don't believe there is a less expensive option. Pop it in an Express Mail envelope and you are good to go.

Exactly what Craig Baker said. It is especially easy if seller has the same bank. You can even do it online. I use this method regularly.

For that matter, you could wire it straight to his bank if he tells you what bank he uses.

Lane, a bank may charge you to wire, and it takes a few hours to process. A deposit into an account is faster and free.

If Jeff's buying Mr. Feldman's guitar, if I were him, I'd drive down. York to DC is only a couple hours each way, shipping would be more than the gas.

Hi Guys,
I'm the person that sold Jeff the Mullen SD-10. I believe he and I have an agreement as to how he will pay me by Monday the 9th.
With any luck he will have it delivered to his home in a week. It depends on the severity of the weather between Oregon and York, PA.
