Thanx for posing.
I seem to detect Jerrys' harmonics using his palm or little finger curled up underneath. He also uses his THUMB pick for a lot of his single note runs. From my decades of playing experience, I'd say that IS a live performance. And, Jerry without a foot volume pedal?
Isn't that sorta like 'never seeing a Mexican without his cowboy hat?'

JB is doing a lot of volume-pedal work on that cut....but where is his foot volume pedal ?
A number of years ago I played a similar local TV show whereby all the sound was done in the studio and I later mimicked everything out in the open air.
JB once claimed to me he was the one who got Dolly started on her road to fame. Perhaps so as they were both featured in Nashville prior to his arrival in Hawai'i in 1972. |

The absence of a pedal was the first thing I noticed. Jerry without a volume pedal is like Dolly without a bra.

Ha! I should have looked closer the first time. Harmonics are happening in the audio when no harmonics are being played in the visual. Oh well, at least she gave some love and respect to the steel guitar and remembered an old friend.
Lindley said Dolly was one of his favorites to work with because she was so musically specific in telling him exactly what she wanted to hear on a given tune.

It'd be great if Jack Byrd popped in on this, but the way I recall Jerry's mention was of him being at the genesis in the first of her two ventures into Nashville, as he encountered her and Dad clamoring up the road in the old family truck and they all met up and got friendly, soon they'd made a pact and some contacts that after valiant tries eventually saw her heading back home. |

From what I've heard mentioned over the years, Dolly actually did get help from JB. Seems like Porter Wagoner was a bit put out when Dolly left his show (?)
