I've had mine for about a week and it took approx. five days to arrive at my Oregon City, Or. home. I wish I would have purchased mine sooner. What a difference it makes in sound quality! Like Dale said, "Craig's the man".  |

I agree with Dave. The OP's question was never answered. If Craig is the manufacturer of these items, according to the forum rules, he is allowed to post prices, right?

Even though Craig is the manufacturer, he is selling a new merchandise item. Plus, he includes some good information when he sends a price so you can make a good decision.

| The forum rules state that a manufacturer may post prices of their product. It does not stipulate whether it is NEW or not. I was merely making comment to the effect that any manufacturer can post prices of their product, if they so desire, according to the forum rules. |

While until now, Li'l Izzy has only been sold direct, I have been contacted by dealers who wish to carry Li'l Izzy in their retail stores. In the mean time, we do not publish price as a courtesy to them.
However, I assure you, all of those who inquire are quickly contacted either via email or private message.

It does not. As informed consumers, we often see manufacturers set a (usually inflated) "MSRP" for a product, and retail it at that price, and resellers selling the same product for another (usually discounted) price. Both are up-front about pricing. Examples are everywhere. So the "mystery" remains. |

I never ask for a price, if the item has no price on it, I'm not interested in it, regardless of what it is, car's,guitars or whatever...

It's under $130, but not by a lot. Less than most other buffers.

Functionally, what's the difference between a Lil Izzy and a Steel Guitar Black Box? I'm not asking for the difference in their features. Just function. I already own a SGBB but am curious about the Lil Izzy.
Aren't they both impedance buffers? |

The Black Box also has a tube, and is meant to add a tubey sound. Brad makes a solid state buffer, the Freeloader.
I haven't played through any Sarno gear (yet), but I've compared the Izzy against a couple Goodrich buffers, and dome other stomps with built-in buffers. ONLY the EHX Holy Grail can touch the Izzy. Notice Hartley and some others use both BB and an Izzy.
Cliff's notes version: The Black Box is more than a buffer.

| The very wise man who sold me my D-10 back in the late ‘70s carried the Li'l Izzys in his store, and I inquired about them. He told me that they were fine for the guys who had Sho-Buds and MSAs, but since I played an Emmons through a Session 400 (it was actually a LTD), I didn’t need one. Now I’m not so sure. I’m still playing a push-pull through that same LTD 400. Do I need one? |

Need? Naaw. But I believe every axe can benefit from them.
I won't play solid state without mine, whether I play Bud, Zum or MSA. I need to get a right angle cable, because it improves tone into my Twin when I put it coming out of the 120.

The long plug came about because some Stratslinger wanted to use one.

Hi Alan,
Thank you for your post. As Lane mentioned, the long plug makes Li'l Izzy useful to Stratocaster players, but mainly it is to get past the pickup switches and volume/tone knobs on some older MSA and Sho~Bud guitars.
Not sure why Lane needs a right angle cord. Li'l Izzy's plug and jack form a right angle, making it easy to convert a pot pedal to an active pedal. (only things missing are the big price tag, the wall wart and a power cord to trip over)

Hi Roger,
Thank you for posting that photo.
Perhaps someday, there will be a serious steel guitar convention (rather than just a 3-day concert) where manufacturers will "convene" and agree that the best place for for the output jack on any steel guitar is on the bottom, facing down.

I like the Izzy like it is. I use a straight cable between it and the volume pedal. Works and sound great to me...
