No, BMI's are just an all pull guitar and don't have body contact on the end plate like a Z B which may be on thing responsible for their tone and I think the pickups would be another thing. Even though the changers resemble from top side, they are nothing alike internally. _________________ Henry Matthews

BMI's and ZB's are 2 different animals. I own a 2011 SD10 BMI and a 1969 D10 ZB both sound great. The ZB, in my opinion has a warmer sound to it. The BMI is a little brighter sounding is the best way I can describe it. Like said before, different types of pickups, changer mechanisms, and construction of the body's make for the differance in sound. I'm hooked on both.
