Does anyone have a picture of Shorty? I talked to him a couple years ago and he was out west then. Any picture would be appreciated.

I might add, Gene O'Neal as well. These a long time old friends of mine.

Thanks Chet Embarassed

I replaced Shorty Messer as the steel player with the Rogers Twins and The Prairie Sons at the Star Nightclub in Amarillo, Texas in 1949. He was a good player, but I don't know where he went after that.

I hooked up with him in Amarillo with Lou Walker at the Clover Club in 1960. As well as Billy Bowman and Gene O'Neal. Those were the times. I am trying to put together a bio and leave it with family.

Thanks for the response.

Pic of shorty in a band context appears here, if you track down the original poster you might get a better - larger copy so you can get a close-up of Shorty.

The original poster on that linked thread, Roy Ayres, passed on about two years ago.

As a side note on Roy Ayres, he was the steeler on the original Pee Wee King/Redd Stewart recording of "Tennessee Waltz".
