I was gonna wait to post this after tabbing it out but after seeing Bob Russell's post today I got all excited had to get on board because I just I worked on this last night:

Nate, first I'm glad to see someone else using this tuning. Sounds nice!
I think you are playing a C-7 chord instead of Eb-7. It still works, as it would be Ebmi6, but you're missing the b3 and b7 of the I chord.
If you had a Freeze pedal, you could freeze that last melody note and play the chord under it. I love playing around with that pedal.

| Thanks Paul and Andy. As far as tone I'll say part of it is in my right hand technique (via Jeff Newman vids) and the other part is GarageBand vintage amp settings and compression. |

Nate, my preference would be in C6/A7, low F:
x 6 (6) x 6 x 6 x (Eb-7)--you can also sneak in the major 3rd (6) to make it an Eb7#9.
x x 5 x 5 x 5 x (Ab13)
x x 1 x 1 x 1 x (Bb7#9)
On Coltrane's recording, you can hear the piano is playing Ab13b5 for the IV chord. BTW, the tune has more of a dominant sound to me than minor, so I think the I chord is Eb7, not Eb-7.

Okay, Mike! This is super-helpful and much appreciated.
• Eb7#9 with the major 3rd now makes more sense
• Ab13b5 I played as: x (5) 5 x 5 x 5 x
I put the b5 on the low A string. And using the 5th fret for an Ab position is brilliant!) So really I just moved the chord shape back one fret (from 6 to 5) - all four notes! Is this right? Can I do that?
