Here is a beautiful classic Webb, clean and in perfect working order. Everything works like it should. I do not have the remote reverb switch. Any questions, please PM or ask here. If you are not familiar with Webb, let me say, this and the mid 70's {Peavey Session 400) are the two best Amps ever made for steel guitar, AND, your Tele , and your Jazz box will be reborn going thru one of these

. Thanks for looking. Lonnie

The side pic shows what lookes like a scratch in tolex, but is a reflection. The tolex is in great condition, and with a coat of armorall would look new. This amp is gorgeous!! The date stamp is wrong, these pics were taken today.

Ray, according to my bath scales, the Amp weighs 55lbs. My Session 400 weighs 57 lbs on the same scales.

Harold, the no. on the metal tag on the inside cabinet is 1274. S.N. on the speaker is 11334. I hope this helps, and thanks for responding. Lonnie

What I'm curious about is if it was made back in the 70's or 80's, or is it one of the later models made circa late 90's into the 2000's (pre-Bradshaw)?

HAROLD, i don't know the criterior for determining when it was made, but I do know the person I bought it from has owned it for over twenty years. What is your understanding about the difference in the earlier and later models? Lonnie

That's a nice amp. My Webb 614-E was built in 1979 and this one is about 200 above mine. Depending on how fast they built them, I would say early, maybe mid 80's. The chassis is also secured through the front like mine, not through the top of the cabinet as in Mr. Webb's later models (second run). It's definitely a "pre Bradshaw".

Thanks for the info, Jerry. I do know this amps controls and EQ are very sensitive. When you turn a knob, something happens! I was able to get fantastic tones with my 64 Epiphone arch top, ranging from deep smooth jazz to brite 50's "rockabilly". This amp "kicks butt", and is LOUD, if you need it. Lonnie

took delivery of serial 789 in late 1978, if that helps you. Typically they need a little work if they have been gigged at about 10-15 years. just my 2 cents.

My Webb is one of the last ones made by Jim Webb, the serial number is 80053,
He obviously added the last 2 numbers in later production.

They are the best amps made for steel, in my opinion, unless you want to tote around a Session 500 or you can find a vintage Twin Reverb with JBLs.. . . I have them all, but I still find myself playing thru the WEBB most of the time.

The later model went to a single chassis, all electronics in one chassis like a Session 400, etc. This is a split chassis, you can tell by the screws on the faceplate, which is the preamp section. Notice the screws on the back holding in the power amp section.

Very little change in these amps over the years. I have worked on likely every type amp they built over the years, including many new amps for Tom Bradshaw. I noted a change in the reverb drive circtuit, making it more like the early Session 400 amp reverb drive (two transistors in a push pull circuit). All great amps!

I know there is someone out there that has always wanted a Webb amp, but somehow you missed this add. SOOO! I'll give it another bump to the top so you can have another chance. If more pics are needed, I can do that! This amp is strong and sounds like a Webb should.

don't let this get past you. Thanks for looking, Lonnie

Another endorsement for Webb amps, I've play my two for decades, I love the tone, and the bands I gig with love the tone. I will soon try a Telonics neo 15-inch speaker in one of mine, I expect that to be just about perfect for tone, weight and power handling.

I used the JBL K-130 for years and absolutely loved that JBL "sparkle." But I'd advise the new owner of this amp to get it reconed at 8 ohms, you lose just a little power, but the speaker won't blow, it's only rated at about 100 watts, and the Webb is 225. I learned the hard way twice on that issue!

Good luck with the sale, Lonnie.

Lonnie, your amp is sure in nice shape! I wish mine still looked as spiffy as yours. Whoever buys it will be very happy with that Webb+JBL sound.

I bought my Webb new from Harry Guffee's shop around 1978, number 976. Just a great amp. It was my only amp for many years. I still take it out occasionally.

I use an 8 Ω speaker in mine as well, a D-130F. I never had problems with the original K-130 myself, but it blew when a tele player who was borrowing my amp played an extended, particularly punishing low E-string lick during a solo at an outdoor gig. Ouch!

I may try another speaker someday, but I'm not in any hurry because I love the JBL. I did try a Sica but it was a bit too dark for this amp, IMO. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the JBL's sparkly top end, which I've never heard from another 15, and which sounds especially sweet from the Webb.

Lonnie, to your point about other instruments sounding "reborn" through this amp, I'll just add that the fiddle player in my band had one of these as well. He loved it and got a terrific sound.

John and Bruce, thanks for your kinds words about the Webb Amp. Folks who have never heard or played thru a Webb just don't realise how sweet they are. Someone will "see the light" and I'll just wait till they do. Thanks again. Lonnie

I'd love another one of these... if for nothing else than to try the Telonics Neo in one and compare to the one I have with a K130. Alas, I bought two new steel guitars this month, so no Webb for me. Good luck!

I have #749 (1978) that I had Ken Fox go through a few years ago.
Adam if you're playing somewhere in the cities let me know and I'll bring it out for you to try. Mine has the original JBL E130-8 in it.

Thanks Kevin - I'm not in town too terribly often, but we are at Toby Keith's on Saturday. I do have a Webb already though; I was just wishing I could grab another as a backup. Mine will need to go in sooner or later and I don't have a ton of backup amp options that I like as well as the Webb. Oh well, may just have to suck it up when the time comes.
