Hey Fellas,

I made a post two years ago concerning auto-wrapping a pedal steel to change the look as an alternative to changing the Formica due to visual imperfections, eye fatigue or it just being plain ugly http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=210412.

Well, I've re-wrapped my Carter since then and thought I'd share some pics.

Feel free to chime in...

...And yes I know the name is big, but its great for advertisement.

Chris, it looks great, better than the first version, I think. How do you have the dual pickups set up?

Hey Bill,

I have the pickups wired using a three way switch. Position 1-"Lawrence", middle position-Both in series, position 3-truetone.

Chris, looks good, I prefer the original fibre finish, but that's just a personal preference, not a fan of white in general, they certainly did a first class job on it, regards

Was the wrap trimmed with a knife or the knifeless tape?

It would be great if you could buy a percut kit for the most well known makes of steel guitar, a sort of do it yourself kit...

I'm not typically one to like white instruments but that carbon look is really nice. Something like that would look really nice sitting beside my Specialized Tarmac.

John, prior to having my Milly redone at factory, I looked at having this done in UK, got a price of £100, using the higher quality carbon wrap, but suppose if shopping about you could possibly get it done cheaper.

John, you had a carbon wrapped steel for sale awhile ago... Please post some pics if you can! Was it a Carter or Emmons?

I like it...but prefer red. Did you take the neck, and endplates off to do it?

Thanks for the complements guys,

@Bill; I only had to take of the keyhead. They worked around everything else.

I prefer the white to the grey....looks great for fiber, and certainly better than any formica I've seen.

I think the advertising is great! More sideman should do that...Branding of talent shouldn't be the exclusive right of the frontman.

Question for those that have had this process done: Over time, have you experienced any lifting/peeling along the edges of the wrap, or any bubbling? Does it resist scratches well?

I have thought about having my GFI (or doing it myself) in "chrome red vinyl".
